Nahla Foundation is a non-profit organization that strives to improve the lives of children, youth and women by providing quality education, healthcare, nutrition, social investment, and recreational interventions. Nahla implements effective education and youth development programs throughout the country, improving the South African school curriculum through education. This creates an environment for viable development and critical skills training, creating job opportunities and sustainable livelihoods in the local communities. Nahla understands that a change in the community also means improving the leaders of the community, thus we have leadership development programmes that assist community leaders to also develop their Cultural Intelligence. People learn to work together despite their cultural backgrounds, creating a common purpose with an intense local focus. We strive to be instrumental in transforming disadvantaged areas, such as informal settlements into stable economically sustainable communities through the use of tools focused on education, employment, business and recreation opportunities. Participants from rural areas have an opportunity to go out into cities to learn the different leadership approaches that they can implement back in their communities. These educational programmes, engage and inspire the rising generations of leaders to shape the future of their communities. Nahla believes that every South African child should grow up in a healthy, safe and nurturing environment. To achieve this, the organization empowers people to address child poverty and confront that which sustains a community’s impoverishment, oppression and sense of powerlessness. Nahla aims to create a future in which no child is without protection, health, education and as they grow into adults, assist in employment creation.
