Name 3 Songs
Name 3 Songs is a music commentary podcast created to challenge sexism in the music industry and empower fangirls. Feminism is the backbone of our podcast. We talk about double standards in the music industry and hardships faced by artists who do not fit into the industry’s expectations. Our episodes are based on critical thinking and education in the hopes of making the music industry a more equitable environment, all while empowering fans to love music unapologetically. Co-hosts Sara Feigin and Jenna Million have had conversations like these countless times with other women over the past decade, both as fans and professionals. In August 2020, they started Name 3 Songs to bring the conversation to a wider audience and inform and educate the next generation of music consumers and professionals. The show’s name comes from the sexist idea that women are incapable of being music fans. This occurs when a man approaches a woman, often a young girl, wearing a band t-shirt and asks her to “name three songs” in order to prove she is in fact a real fan.
