Nami Union County

NAMI Union County is an affiliate of the National Alliance on Mental Illness ("NAMI") and NAMI North Carolina. Our goal is to improve the wellness and quality of life of all persons affected by mental illness and to eliminate the stigma of mental illness. Toward that end, we provide support, education, and advocacy in Union County, NC on behalf of individuals and families affected by mental illness. Support: NAMI Union County offers monthly Family Support Group meetings that provide an opportunity to talk with others who have "been there" and who understand what you are facing. Advocacy: We advocate for improved mental health services in the community, legislative changes, increased funding for services, and crisis intervention training (CIT) for law enforcement officers. NAMI Union County is aligned with the legislative priorities and public policy platform of NAMI and NAMI North Carolina. Education: We work to reduce stigma by helping the community understand that mental illness is simply a physical illness of the brain.
