Nantong Development Area

Nantong Economic and Technological Development Area (NETDA) is one of China's 14 first state-level development areas, Approved of by the State Council on December 19, 1984. Located in the city of Nantong, and bordering the Yangtze River to its south, Nantong development area faces the international metropolis Shanghai across the river. Its superior geographical location by the Sea and River, evolving investment infrastructures, existing industrial foundation among others, make it an ideal destination for investment in the Yangtze River Delta. NETDA is strategically positioned at the Gateway of the Yangtze River, to offer convenient transport and logistics solutions to tap the potentials of many aspects at China and Overseas markets and resources. NETDA is situated in the central section of China’s golden coastline, on the northern bank of the estuary of the Yangtze River, facing the Pacific Ocean to its east and with the Yangtze River valley as its hinterland. Its favorable geographical location provides all the advantages bestowed by the golden coastline and the golden waterway. Ports along China’s coastline and famous ports worldwide can be reached via the river and seas; going up-stream along the river can get you to the provinces of Jiangsu, Anhui, Jiangxi, Hubei, Hunan and Sichuan, and further to Yunnan, Guizhou, Shaanxi and Henan. NETDA has links with Shanghai-Nanjing and Yanjiang Express-ways to its south and links with Nanjing-Nantong Expressway and under-construction Yancheng -Nantong and Nantong -Qidong Expressways to its north. The Su (Suzhou)-Tong (Nantong) Yangtze Bridge under construction will connect NETDA directly to metropolitan Shanghai, 60 minutes` drive away. In addition, the Xinyi -Chan-gxing and Nanjing -Qidong railways reach the development, making it accessible to the Longhai and Beijing -Shanghai Railways, both being the nation-wide transportation artery.
