Narrowing The Gaps Ltd

It is a sad fact that our education system does not work well for poorer pupils. Gaps in attainment between children eligible for free school meals and those who are not eligible appear at around 22 months and get wider with each year spent in the system. Here is a shocking statistic: pupils attending private schools are 55 times more likely to win a place at Oxford or Cambridge than pupils eligible for free school meals. Yes, fifty five. Some individual private schools send more pupils to Oxbridge each year than the entire national cohort of pupils in receipt of free meals. Narrowing the Gaps Ltd exists to support school leaders who are serious about addressing such social inequity.
