Nature Discovery Center

We believe a personal connection to nature is an essential part of life. The Nature Discovery Center's interactive hands-on approach to learning is designed to nurture the inquiring mind, awaken children's natural curiosity and sense of wonder, and spark interest in the study of nature and science. The Nature Discovery Center includes the four-acre Russ Pitman Park and the Discovery Rooms are housed in the historic Henshaw House. The Park's mix of prairie grasses, tall pecans, native understory and wide lawns is home to a variety of animals, from butterflies and beetles to squirrels and birds. During spring and fall migration seasons, over 80 species of warblers, vireos, orioles and more stop in for food, rest and water - giving us a great opportunity to see and photograph them.
