Naturesave is a purpose driven business that was formed to help create a more sustainable insurance industry. We passionately believe insurance should protect both people and the planet The company was founded in 1993 by Matthew Criddle and operates nationwide from its base in Totnes, Devon. In 2022 Naturesave became part of the Benefact Group, a charity-owned family of financial services companies that donate all available profits to good causes. The Benefact Group (formerly the Ecclesiastical Insurance Group) has donated over £100 million to charity since 2016, making it one of the UK’s largest corporate donors. Naturesave is ethical in that it offers is a good service for what is a necessary part of everyday life, together with contributions to specific environmental and conservationist projects, free Environmental Performance Reviews for SME clients and lobbying within the insurance industry. On the wider stage, Naturesave is striving to change the way the insurance industry works – currently by "mopping up" the effects of accidents, some of which are undoubtedly due to human-induced climate change. Naturesave's primary objective is to use the insurance industry as a vehicle for sustainable development. In 2011 Naturesave became the first insurance company to be awarded the Queen's Award for Enterprise Sustainable Development in recognition of its work.
