NC Newsline is a nonpartisan nonprofit news organization dedicated to fearless reporting and hard-hitting commentary that shines a light on injustice, holds public officials accountable, and helps improve the quality of life for all North Carolinians. Founded in 2004 as a small commentary nonprofit known as NC Policy Watch, our newsroom was renamed in 2023 to reflect its evolution into a full-service digital outlet that connects readers and listeners to important news and opinion from across North Carolina and the nation. NC Newsline is an affiliate of States Newsroom, a national 501(c)(3) nonprofit supported by grants and a coalition of donors and readers. NC Newsline retains full editorial independence. NC Policy Watch generates a large and steady flow of timely, accurate and hard-hitting commentaries, analyses and investigative reports that inform elected officials, advocates, the news media and the public at-large. The NC Policy Watch blog, The Progressive Pulse, is one of North Carolina’s most active and important public policy websites. Policy Watch Investigates is one of the state’s most important sources of high quality, independent reporting.
