Nederlandse Datakluis

Stichting Nederlandse Datakluis (The Dutch Data Vault Foundation) is building a new personal data infrastructure. Your personal data is stored in an online vault — a secure storage space on the internet — where only you hold the keys. You decide who can access your personal data, for what purpose, and for how long. This is a fundamentally different model from how the internet currently works. It puts you in control, enables entirely new use cases, and makes cookies and tracking obsolete. The foundation was initiated by the Dutch media sector who helped fund and shape this new infrastructure based on a shared vision that personal data must increasingly be controlled by users themselves. After two years of development, the personal data vault will launch by the end of this year as a neutral, open-access infrastructure. Media companies will be among the first to adopt it, but it is also open to businesses and organizations across many other sectors. As an independent and neutral foundation, our mission is to safeguard the individual’s interests and ensure true user control over personal data. This initiative is co-funded by the European Union and supported by the Netherlands Institute for Sound & Vision, Media Perspectives, ROM Utrecht, the Flemish data utility Athumi, SolidLab Flanders, and several technical partners.
