Neuromorphic Quantumphotonics - Pernice Lab

The Neuromorphic Quantum Photonics Group, led by Prof. Dr. Wolfram Pernice at Heidelberg University, is a dedicated research group specializing in the research and development of neuromorphic quantum photonics systems. Our goal is to combine innovative approaches originating from both quantum optics and neuromorphics to open up new avenues for information processing. We focus on the research and realization of systems that combine the advantages of quantum mechanics and neuromorphics. In particular, we investigate the interaction of light and matter on optical chips and how this interaction can be used to implement neuromorphic circuits. By using quantum photonics, we can exploit quantum effects such as superposition and entanglement to perform computationally intensive tasks more efficiently and precisely.
