New Birth Community Development

New Birth Community Development (NBCD) is located in South Stockton and originated in 2013. Our mission is “NBCD endeavors to discover and meet the needs of the underserved by bridging the community needs with resources”. In 1997, New Birth Christian Center (NBCC), established their presence within the community and has since accumulated a rich heritage of working with the African American population. New Birth Community Development (NBCD) was birthed through the programs of NBCC. NBCD has established roots and remains connected to our community through the various programs that are offered. These programs focus on mentorship, family health and individualized mental and physical health. In addition to these programs, Adventure Community Academy is our community childcare offering parents a safe, healthy learning environment for children ages 2-4. Over the past five years, NBCD has led the charge in many youth engagement activities. These activities are targeted to keep disproportionately placed youth and young adults of color off of the streets and engaged in positive development activities. These activities include but are not limited to, Fusion Friday, Journey Mentoring Program, Field Trips, etc. Fusion Friday was designed to capture youth between the hours of 8pm-12am and bring them to a safe space where they have access to free meals and other engagement activities. This effort was created out of the direct impact gang violence and drug abuse has been having on our youth. Providing this space, gives youth and young adults another option for engagement. Through this program, there was an average of 40 youth in attendance per Fusion Friday event. Journey Mentoring is a mentorship program targeted at youth ages 9-18 who may need additional support and guidance. To date, this program has hosted discussions on Human Trafficking, Domestic Violence, Substance Use, positive community presence and more.
