New Haven Care

What inspired New Haven Care? My name is Diego Diaz-Reyes and I am excited to share with you the journey that led to the establishment of New Haven Care, a homecare company with a special focus on the mental wellbeing and motivational goals for individuals with disabilities. For over a decade, I have worked in the homecare industry, providing one-on-one support to clients facing physical challenges. While assisting them with daily activities, I realized there was a crucial aspect of their wellbeing that was repeatedly overlooked: Their mental health. Many individuals I worked with were struggling with issues such as anxiety, depression, PTSD, and other psychological struggles, which were often intensified by their physical limitations. It became evident that there was a significant gap addressing the holistic wellbeing of these individuals. Despite receiving essential physical care, the mental health of many clients remained unaddressed. Witnessing this pattern over the years without having the tools to assist in these issues, I was inspired to create New Haven Care. The main focus of New Haven Care is to help individuals lead a more personally fulfilling life. While receiving homecare services, our clients will also work one-on-one with our care coordinators on setting goals, developing life skills, and identifying ways in which they can be more motivated, empowered, and fulfilled. Regardless of age or ability, New Haven Care aims to help people find success in all domains of life, including school, work, and interpersonal relationships. Our team of care coordinators will consist of individuals who have knowledge in psychology or plan on working in the field of mental health; We are not mental health professionals. As New Haven Care grows, it is my dream to incorporate even more mental health services, such as personal psychotherapy provided by professionals.
