NewMed's vision is to establish an outstanding new medical school for Australia. With Federation University, the MD program will develop safe and trusted medical graduates able to practise in any field of medicine, with an emphasis on General Practice, serving outer urban, regional, rural and remote communities. The program's educational framework is defined by the innovative application of advanced technologies and case-based learning conducted in small groups. This model incorporates programmatic assessment and intensive face-to-face workshop weeks, all of which are designed to align with extensive supervised clinical experience. For the initial three years of the program, clinical training is situated within General Practice settings. In the fourth and final year, students transition to co-located hospital placements to complete their clinical preparation. With Federation University, NewMed is currently on an accreditation pathway with the Australian Medical Council (AMC), to become the Federation University NewMed School of Medicine. The medical program is not yet operational, and consequently, applications for enrolment cannot be accepted at this stage.
