Ninha

ZENÚ HERITAGE AND SCANDINAVIAN MINIMALISM NINHA is a socially, economically and - environmentally sustainable start up producing lampshades in the tradition of the Zenú indigenous weaving tradition. Ninha serves to maintain the Zenú heritage while bringing meaningful and fair work for a Zenú community in Cartagena, Colombia. The beautiful lampshades are designed in collaboration with two Danish Sustainable Design master students and with support from the local NGO ‘Fundación por la Educación Multidimensional’ (FEM). The lampshades are made by the community members with the ancient technique of weaving Colombian caña flecha palm leaves into detailed patterns and sewing the strips into an infinite number of designs in the shape of exquisite lampshades inspired by Scandinavian minimalism: lampshades that cast a warm and comfortable light in our homes and on the heritage, tradition and talent of the people who made them.
