Nirman

NIRMAN, a developmental organisation began as an initiative from a group of youth who belong to the Denotified and Nomadic Tribes and completed their education in the field of social work. Following the concept of “Pay back to society” given by Dr. B. R. Ambedkar and having developed strong dedication and core competencies required to carry out result-based work in the development sector, these youths formed NIRMAN in 2006. The focus is on the emancipation of the most discriminated communities, officially termed the Nomadic Tribes (henceforth NT) and De-Notified Tribes (henceforth DNT). The aim of NIRMAN is to empower NT and DNT and bring about social transformation and participatory democracy through education and democratic mobilization. NIRMAN believes in the values of liberty, equality, and fraternity for creating a just society. Currently, NIRMAN is working in two districts of Maharashtra, namely, Pune and Satara. NIRMAN was envisioned by passionate youths belonging to the NT and DNT community grounded by the emancipatory idea of B.R Ambedkar; “Pay Back to Society,” and conceived as a development organization in 2006. Niman aims to serve the most marginalized communities in India with a specific focus on NT (Notified Tribe) and DNT (De-notified Tribe) through education, participatory democracy, and democratic mobilization. At its core, Nirman values liberty, equality, and fraternity to promote a just and equitable society. Nirman works in four districts of Maharashtra; Pune, Satara, Solapur, and Beed, and has indirectly worked in three districts. Vision A society reclaiming human personality to lead a dignified life. Mission To promote constitutional safeguards and citizenship rights of the NT-DNT. To promote education, health, and livelihood rights among NT-DNT communities.
