Nkuringo Bwindi Gorilla Lodge

The Lodge is located 2160m ASL on the Nteko Ridge overlooking a beautiful swath of the world’s renowned Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, home to half of the World’s remaining endangered Mountain Gorillas. The Ridge provides a superb vantage across the Kashasha river valley to the forested hill known as ‘Nkuringo” and the surrounding plethora of trees of Bwindi Forest. This section of the forest is home to the Nkuringo group and Rushaga Gorilla groups and only section where guests can participate in 4 hours Gorilla Habituation Expereince. The Gorilla Lodge provides prime access point to the start of this amazing Gorilla trekking activity. The Lodge has panoramic views of the Majestic volcanoes of the Virunga chain and across the escarpment into the Albertine Rift valley within the DR Congo. Birding in Bwindi enthusiasts will find Nkuringo Lodge of interest as starting point to transverse Bwindi. Nkuringo has its own high altitude pocket forest where visits can be arranged with community guides. Bwindi is a prolific and most certainly one of the best birding locations in East Africa. It is the ideal habitat for variety of birds, with 350 species recorded including 23 endemics (90% of all Albertine Rift endemics) Over the years with the number of returning guests and great recommendations, the lodge has organically grown from humble beginnings in 2007 to Bwindi’s most sort-after accommodation.
