Nobi Labs Inc. has created a companion robot for students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) to help with their social interactions and self regulation. The use of a companion robot has shown to have many positive effects on the social behaviours of children with autism. These positive behaviours with the robot transfer to when they are interacting with their peers, educators and parents. The increased prevalence in the diagnosis of children with ASD is putting a huge strain on the limited number of services and therapies available, not allowing children to get the services they need when it will be the most beneficial to them. Nobi can help to bridge the gap between home, school and therapies, lessen the strain on teachers and parents by automating strategies and encouraging self regulation. Nobi gives the child a sense of familiarity and comfort in this companion robot.
