Noria Research

Founded in 2012, Noria Research is a French non-profit association governed by the 1901 law, independent and closely connected to the academic world. Our mission is to transform data gathered through fieldwork into original and accessible analyses, in order to inform public debate and disseminate a nuanced understanding of political, social, environmental and economic dynamics in the regions where we work. The organisation's activities are structured around three complementary areas: • Research: we conduct in-depth field investigations in partnership with local researchers and organisations. Our work focuses mainly on the MENA region and sub-Saharan Africa, exploring political, social, environmental and economic crises, as well as their long-term implications. • Publishing: true to our commitment to open social sciences, we disseminate all our publications in open access. We innovate by developing new formats – podcasts, maps, photographic reports – to make research accessible to a broader audience while maintaining rigorous academic standards. • Training: we support young researchers by providing them with the methods and tools needed to conduct fieldwork and produce high-quality research. In doing so, we contribute to training the next generation of specialists in the humanities and social sciences. Through these three dimensions, Noria Research is committed to producing and sharing high-quality knowledge, serving a better understanding of global issues and the democratization of knowledge.
