We are a boutique, highly-qualified, all-female Obstetric practice offering personalised Obstetric care for women on Sydney’s North Shore. North Obstetrics is about empowering women to have the pregnancy experience they deserve, through kindness, compassion and excellence in medical care provided by Maternal Fetal Medicine Obstetricians, Dr Kathryn Austin and Dr Margie Harpham. We welcome women who wish to have private care in their pregnancy, and who wish to deliver at either North Shore Private Hospital or Royal North Shore Hospital. Dr Austin and Dr Harpham are one of a small group of subspecialist obstetricians referred to as Maternal Fetal Medicine (MFM) obstetricians. MFM obstetricians hold the highest possible qualification for obstetrics in the country, having undertaken rigorous extra fellowship training in maternal and fetal conditions and obstetric ultrasound. MFM qualifications are held by fewer than 100 doctors in Australia. Dr Austin and Dr Harpham are first and foremost obstetricians who enjoy caring for pregnant women, from healthy, “low-risk” women, to women with complex maternal medical or fetal conditions. Most “high-risk” pregnancies start as “low-risk”, so no matter what eventuates with your pregnancy, you know you will be in the best possible hands at North Obstetrics. North Obstetrics is an all-female practice. Our doctors are mothers themselves and understand both personally and professionally the importance of holistic obstetric care for all parts of the pregnancy and post-partum period. Dr Austin and Dr Harpham provide evidence based, personalised care founded on excellent communication. North Obstetrics intentionally limits patient numbers to ensure the obstetricians can always be there when needed, and are able to offer care in a relaxed environment as they understand that good medicine takes time.
