Novi Sad 2021

The City of Novi Sad has decided to bid for title of the European Capital of Culture in 2021, when it will be available for cities and countries outside the European Union for the first time. Following the positive experiences of other Capitals of Culture, the project Novi Sad 2021 is envisaged as a platform for development of cultural and creative potentials of the city, which will, in the following years, strengthen the cultural vitality of the city, enable urban regeneration, and improve international reputation and tourist offer of Novi Sad. In this way, the City of Novi Sad, through work on the bid for the European Capital of Culture in 2021, will develop its local identity and strategy of sustainable development of cultural sector focusing on: strengthening cultural institutions, restoring cultural heritage, increasing cultural participation, developing cultural and creative industries, decentralisation and inter-sector cooperation.
