NTA-2 Channel 5, “Your Reach Out Station” was established in April 1980 for the purpose of producing and transmission of TV programs designed to meet the emerging sophisticated needs of viewers in the cosmopolitan areas of Lagos State. Initially, it was incorporated into the National Television Production Centre (NTPC) transmitting 60 hours per week. In 1981, the station became the only commercialized NTA station and was given autonomy with its own Management and separate broadcasting outfit. The station started with a staff strength of thirty which now stands at one hundred and twenty because of twenty-four hours transmission that effectively took off in December NTA-2 Channel 5 has continued to climb greater heights to the extent that in the Board of Management of NTA placed upon its shoulders the enormous responsibility of playing the role of the “flagship” of the Authority nationwide as the “image maker”, “live wire” and “pacesetter of the NTA family”. In 2007, NTA2 became a Zonal Network Centre thereby charged with the responsibility of supervising other NTA stations in Lagos. On 31st January 2019, NTA2 entered into a new plane of status following its migration to the DSTV and GOTV platforms. Subsequently, approval was granted by the NTA Management for the station to detach from the NTA Network transmissions. This is a great opportunity for advertisers. NTA2 is still breaking new grounds!
