Ntlp - Not Typical Library Partners

NTLP was a private, member-driven non-profit corporation serving all types of libraries. Its mission was to advance libraries and the communities they serve through innovative information technology, education, and collaborative library support services. It did so primarily by:* Facilitating collaborative library services,* Advocating on behalf of libraries,* Focusing on new opportunities for libraries,* Advancing professionalism and high standards in library service, and * Supporting sustainable and transformational projects in libraries. NTLP began as North Texas Regional Library System, Inc.(NTRLS), a non-profit responsible for administering the system's operations grant from the Texas State Library and Archives Commision (TSLAC) which used LSTA funds from the Institute of Museum and Library Services. As the organization began to provide programs and services beyond the scope of government funding restrictions, it became necessary to seek funding from sources other than TSLAC. The organization took on the name North Texas Library Partners to distinguish the non-profit from the state-funded system and began offering additional services through funding from non-governmental sources. Although NTLP received funding from membership dues, grants, sponsorships, government contracts and donations, NTLP lost a significant source of its funding when the State legislature greatly reduced funding to the Texas State Library and Archives Commission and that organization eliminated the budget for all 10 regional offices of the State library system. By September 1, 2012, most of the regional offices were no longer in business. NTLP closed its doors permanently May 31, 2013.
