Numar is a biotech startup rethinking traditional food systems through the development of seaweed-based products. Based in Sines, Portugal, we are committed to solving the challenge of access to sustainable and nutritious food, without the environmental costs of intensive land and freshwater use. Our approach centres on the cultivation and transformation of seaweed as a scalable, regenerative resource. We represent a new movement: a shift from simply healthy to truly smarter food. Our mission is to accelerate the transition to a more resilient and blue economy by developing and scaling up alternative protein sources and bio-based innovations that support both people and the planet.
