Nunamaisha
Nunamaisha is a 501(c)(3) organization founded in 2018 by Carla Cardenas, an environmental lawyer with 15+ years of experience in Ecuador and the United States, and supported by a great team of dedicated volunteers. Its peculiar name comes from the combination of two words that reflect in great detail the heart of this project: nuna means "soul" in Quechua and maisha means "life" in Swahili. The organization is helping to protect the Amazon rainforest through the support and the empowerment of its indigenous communities, specifically- leading Strategic Partnerships by aligning local & global entities with indigenous community needs - serving as a trusted advisor to sustain Ethical & Impactful Collaborations - building Capacity for Sustainable Economies & preserve the indigenous cultures
