Oasis Groups

Whether we're in an agency or private practice, new or seasoned, working with addiction or trauma or children or adults, our work can be emotionally, mentally, and physically draining. It's often very isolating as well because of its confidential nature and format. Consult groups can be very supportive, but they primarily offer support on behalf of our clients. Individual therapy can be so valuable in helping us care for others sustainably, but it can also feel isolated from community. So as caregivers ourselves, we wanted a small community that both empathized with the pressures of our work while supporting us as individuals with our own stories. Our dream was to have a place where we felt safe enough to be vulnerable with how our own pain and joy were intersecting with the complexities of our work and personal relationships- a place where we could regularly be known and seen ourselves. Oasis groups were formed with these goals in mind- to provide a small fertile or green area of refuge, relief and pleasant change in the desert places of our work. Our groups are a hybrid format of story work, group therapy, process-centered reflection around interpersonal experiences that unfold between group members, and a bit of art
