Ochabe Handmade

We empower a community of One Hundred Fifty Colombian Indigenous Artisan Women making ethically handcrafted pieces in the natural fiber of iraca palm. We are Ochabe, a Colombian company born from the inspiration of Grandmother ‘Ocha’ and great grandmother ‘Machabe’, two women of indigenous ancestry who taught their families to weave. Today their granddaughter, Ana María Márquez is honoring the legacy empowering and creating new opportunities of work for these women. We make products that preserve the ancestral techniques handed down to us from the weaving community of Usiacurí, in the Atlántico department of Colombia.
