OFFICE CORR HIGGINS is an architecture practice currently working on projects across a broad range of scales in the UK and Ireland. Based between the cities of Glasgow and Bristol, the practice is deeply interested in the culture of building and adopts a collaborative approach to the fields of architecture, design and construction. The directors’ working relationship began as students at the Glasgow School of Art and proceeded through many years working together for London practices Baynes and Mitchell Architects and 6a architects. Brendan and Rory were responsible for the design, detailing and delivery of many high-profile projects in that time, including Command of the Oceans at The Historic Dockyard, Chatham; Cowan Court at Churchill College, Cambridge; MK Gallery in Milton Keynes; and Skinners’ Hall, City of London. Command of the Oceans was the recipient of multiple awards and was Stirling Prize nominated in 2017; Cowan Court received multiple awards in the same year and was the subject of an installation by 6a architects and artist Ben Rivers at the 2018 Venice Biennale. Rory and Brendan co-lead an architectural design unit at the Welsh School of Architecture, Cardiff University, and Rory is a Studio Tutor and Architectural Technology Lecturer at the Mackintosh School of Architecture, Glasgow School of Art. The practice designs generous, site-specific architecture with a focus on material & tectonic expression, economy of means, and care for the environment.
