Ojos Propios

Since the beginning of our operations as an Audiovisual Communication Association in 2009, Ojos Propios has adopted participatory photography as a fundamental tool to strengthen and improve relations between the country's organised communities, the State and the private sector. Mission: We see our mission as an inside look at the Nation, with the purpose of creating a self-portrait of our communities. This portrait is captured through photographs taken by the protagonists themselves, based on their memories and emotions, thus contributing to the construction of a collective identity. Vision: We aspire to forge an effective communication link between the processes of popular culture, enriched with our own ancestral values. The purpose of this connection is to share information in order to prevent conflicts, anticipate events, avoid misunderstandings and establish life policies that promote social integration in a harmonious way. Our management begins with a call for photography workshops mainly in risk areas, but we are open to any group or community that needs its own alternative communication system.
