One In 5000 Foundation

The ONE in Foundation website is dedicated to be a worldwide resource for the Imperforate Anus (IA)/ Anorectal Malformation (ARM) community. Our vision is based on the following four outcomes, we call the AIMS program, which focuses on AWARENESS; INFORMATION; MEDICAL; SUPPORT. We have a large presence on social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram), and have established "Facebook Support groups" under the "ONE in name in Australia, United Kingdom; France, Canada & New Zealand, with plans for more countries to be added. These groups have given families a chance to connect and share experiences with others in the IA/ARM community in their country. We have also established a wonderful network of Pediatric Colorectal medical professionals globally, which has been crucial in providing families with clinicians in their respective countries who specialise in the care and treatment of IA/ARM patients. We have also been very active in attending conferences and sharing the lived "patient experience" from adults and parents to the medical profession, which in particular has resulted in the need to address the "transition of care" and "mental health" issues for IA/ARM patients which has been neglected in the past, which as has greatly adversely affected IA/ARM adults.
