Initiatives des Jeunes pour le Développement (IJD) was founded on the baptismal fund on February 20, under the initiative of young people committed to self-promotion and sustainable development. The NGO-IJD really started its activities in July 2003 as a non-profit organization with the aim of promoting the socio-economic and professional integration of populations in general and young people in particular through grassroots initiatives to sustainable development. Its vision is to see young people become responsible players in their own path to social and economic integration. Its mission is to mobilize, motivate and intellectually equip young people for self-sustained sustainable development on the one hand and to support the dynamics of participatory and inclusive local development on the other. The NGO-IJD has its head office in Togo in Lomé, Adidogomé district rue des Frères Franciscains. It is managed by four (4) bodies, namely: the General Assembly, the Board of Directors, the Executive Management and the Statutory Auditors. After obtaining its receipt in 2006, it was recognized as a development NGO in 2011 and signed its first Program Agreement with the Government of the Togolese Republic in 2013 and the second Program Agreement in 2018.
