Onterra, LLC was created in 2005 to offer objective lake management planning services at a reasonable cost. The firm is head-quartered in De Pere, WI. Onterra provides a variety of lake-related services ranging from science-based diagnostic/feasibility studies to comprehensive lake management plans consisting of aquatic plant inventories, stakeholder education, watershed and water quality analysis, and implementation plan development. Every planning project led by Onterra is created upon a foundation of science and objectivity. The structure built on that foundation is composed of stakeholder participation and education. As a result of this combination, a realistic and implementable management plan can be created that meets the needs of the lake and the folks that care for it alike. Since the company's start, Onterra staff have worked on over 300 waterbodies in 32 Wisconsin counties. As of 2020, over 250 lakes in Wisconsin are managed under a plan created with Onterra’s assistance. Onterra has also worked with many groups on the implementation of their management plans, which include AIS management and monitoring projects, specific diagnostic studies, and continued environmental monitoring
