OPAL HORIZON LIMITED Company Profile Opal Horizon Limited ("OHZ") is a an unlisted Australian public company which has been in operation since February 2001. It has approximately 120 shareholders It is a vertically integrated company involved in all aspects of the opal industry from exploration through to mining, purchasing, processing, and international wholesaling. Apart from opal which is sold to shareholders in Australia, all of the company's product is sold internationally. The company currently has one opal mine in operation in southwestern Queensland. This mine, called Raindance, produces high-quality pipe and boulder opal. Another deposit close by, called The Big Girl, is expected to begin mining operations in 2010. OHZ is a world leader in opal exploration and has numerous discoveries to its credit, including the Raindance and The Big Girl deposits. It is the company's intention to have at least 4 opal mines in operation at any one time to assure continuity of supply. Corporate Objectives OHZ intends to take an international leadership role by consolidating the fragmented Australian opal industry. In order to achieve this, the company is currently in the process of:*introducing new globally accepted standards of grading, valuation and certification of opals *supplementing the supply of opals from its own mines by acting as an agent for smaller opal miners from throughout Australia *marketing opals through an international public relations and promotional campaign aimed at both the trade and customer *repositioning this currently devalued gemstone at the top end of the precious stone market *expanding existing export markets in the US, Japan and Europe and developing high growth potential markets such as China, the Middle East, India and Southeast Asia.
