OPPtimal has developed new seismic volume interpretation techniques and workflows, which are focused on the integration of highest-resolution fault extraction results with the detailed calibration and integration of drilling, mining and production data, allowing to delineate fluid barriers, fluid conduits, fault-related mineralisations or drilling & mining hazards in the subsurface. Through this, it is possible to reduce drilling & mining risks and costs, to increase the safety of operations, and to significantly increase resource production, particularly from compartmentalised, fractured, tight, unconventional and structurally complex resources. OPPtimal has applied its new fault visualisation and drilling & production optimisation workflows so far on a number of different resource assets around the world, which has resulted in spectacular, ‘world-first’ fracture visualisation results for its clients. Evaluations of workover/recompletion opportunities in existing wells, targeting of ‘sweet spot’ opportunities in future wells and mine planning operations are currently ongoing.
