Sadly OAC closed it's doors May 27, 2011. OAC started as the New England Authorized Olympus Microscope distributor in 1995 by then owner and entrepreneur David Wolfram. OAC quickly grew to a major influence in microscopy sales and solutions in the life sciences. In OAC expanded to the Midwest covering Illinois, Michigan and Indiana. In 2002 Mr. Wolfram retired and OAC was sold to Fred Madison, Kurt Weissback, Keith Magnant and Richard Boone. The partnership doubled the sales volume and OAC became Olympus' largest sales distributor for several years achieving sales of over 25 million at it's peak. In 2007 there were ownership changes leaving Keith Magnant and Richard Boone as the sole owners. Sales continued to grow until economic challenges and a decrease in government funds caused sales to flatlined. Feeling these pressures in 2009 Olymous decided to change it's distribution method and moved to a direct sales force. This devastated OAC, OAC then tried to unsuccessfully reorganize the company to focus on the industrial marketplace partnering with the Leica Microsystems industrial division as a distributor in new England, as the economy worstned and sales continually failed to meet expectations OAC made the hard choice to close it's doors. OAC is indebted to the wonderful sales and support staff that we all had the pleasure to work with.
