Orcas is a crowdfunding platform where any early-stage startup—from tech to retail to crypto—can raise money by tokenizing their equity (turning a portion of their equity into tokens), which everyday people can buy. It’s like Kickstarter, except investors own a real piece of the company by receiving that company’s token instead of just getting their product. You can invest as little as $5, and you directly purchase tokens representing actual ownership in that startup if that startup reaches its posted fundraising goal. These equity tokens can then be bought and sold on Orcas’s secondary marketplace, functioning as a decentralized stock exchange. The idea is to replace the traditional venture capital barrier of entry and let anyone, not just accredited investors, help decide which new ideas deserve funding.
