The types of therapy that work are those that help you learn the skills needed to live life in a healthier manner. Most of our clinicians use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy as their primary treatment as it has the clearest scientific evidence of helping clients achieve their therapy goals. Acceptance and Commitment Therapy also has robust scientific evidence and is used at Oregon City Counseling as well. Finally, any behavioral, skill based, therapy has been shown to help clients meet their treatment goals and so we use a clear communication skills package to help clients build healthier, more respectful relationships with others in their lives. Scientific research indicates that the most important factor in effective therapy is having a meaningful relationship with your therapist. By naturally providing an understanding ear and an empathetic heart, our providers develop trusting relationships. They have the humble confidence to try something different if what they are doing is not helping.
