Ortelia Interactive Spaces

Founded in 2009, Ortelia delivers innovative 3D applications for Galleries, Museums, Archives and Libraries (GLAM) sector. We aim to be the leading provider and enabler of 3D interactive services and virtual exhibitions for the cultural heritage sector. The 3D content and software tools we develop enhance active exhibition design and archiving while significantly improving patron accessibility and engagement. We specialise in developing tailored interactive 3D immersive applications to improve user engagement and exhibition management for cultural institutions. We view back-of-house collections as untapped patron engagement opportunities. Our focus is on tools that enable our clients to manage their own online 3D content. We believe that the best client outcomes are the result of collaboration. We provide capacity for institutions to realise their patron engagement goals through interactive digital means. Our off-the-shelf software, Ortelia Curator, has been developed to specifically address the logistical and creative needs of exhibition designers within galleries and museums. Ortelia Curator offers known savings in design time, logistics, and handling costs of artwork and has been developed in collaboration with exhibition designers and cultural institutions. One of Ortelia’s underlying aims is to explore the dynamics of cultural space. By granting public spaces a virtual presence. Ortelia provides users with the means to understand the nature of those spaces and engage with them more profoundly. We take our name from Abraham Ortelius, a sixteenth-century geographer who is credited with making the first map of the world, Theatrum Terrarum (Theatre of the World). Our mission is to provide new ways for our clients to map their cultural worlds.
