Otobox

Otobox is a youth-led non-profit organisation working to increase STEM education, digital rights, and Information & Communications Technology (ICT) awareness among youth from underrepresented communities in Africa to produce robust, innovative, sustainable, and affordable solutions to global challenges and enable humanity to explore and develop through practical and measurable steps. We engage through innovation, open leadership, community engagement programs and mentorships and promote youth activism in shaping the future of STEM. In this ever-changing, increasingly complex world, it is vital that our youth be prepared to bring knowledge and skills to solve problems, make sense of information, and know-how to gather and evaluate evidence to make sound decisions. Otobox is dedicated to STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) programs based in Uganda because STEM education is a multidisciplinary, project-based educational approach that is designed to inspire and develop students to become future leaders in technology, science, business, and industry. The STEM curriculum is built upon areas like engineering design, computer-aided drafting, 3D modelling, architecture and other related areas. This program employs a rigorous learning environment by delivering a curriculum through a multimedia-rich environment as well as hands-on opportunities to construct models and test ideas. The intent of this program is to develop cooperative opportunities with local higher education as well as local businesses and industries to give the students real-world learning experiences. The interactions with these organizations will benefit the development of students by providing them with the specific skills that these organizations are looking for in future students/employees. As the demand for engineering and technology jobs continues to grow, Otobox strives to give students and underserved communities the opportunity to pursue engineering and technology-related courses.
