Who We Are Outback Optics is an Australian-owned family company, dedicated to designing and sourcing the best value for money hunting optics for you, the Aussie shooter. Our roots run deep in the Peel Valley region of New England, New South Wales. Our founder, George Barton, hails from a local farming family with several generations of blood, sweat, and tears in the Peel Valley soil. George has a lifetime of shooting experience, both in the bush and on the range. After representing Australia in 25 World Cup teams, 10 World Championship teams, 2 Commonwealth Games, and 2 Olympic Games, he retired young to pursue a career in the firearms industry. George spent the next 10 years working with a number of global firearms brands, including two of the major sporting optical companies in the world. During George’s tenure in the firearms trade, it became clear that adapting optics to the Australian market was complex for manufacturers in Europe and the USA due to intricate supply chains and the volume required for the Aussie market. This made optics better suited to our market costly and many brands out of reach for the average Aussie battler. Outback Optics was born.
