Outrun Cancer

OUTRUN CANCER is a Sydney based event management company that organises running events to raise money for cancer prevention projects. OUTRUN CANCER flag event is the OUTRUN CANCER CORPORATE TREADMILL MARATHON, a relay-style marathon on treadmill targeting 30-55 years old professionals working for medium to large corporations. The event ran very successfully in Sydney since 2012, expanding Australia wide from 2014. OUTRUN CANCER is born in March 2011 when Luca's mother Lisetta, in little over 5 months from diagnosis, died of a very aggressive form of pancreatic cancer. Driven by the intersection of Passion for Running, Desire to Get back to Cancer and a touch of Craziness, Luca invested the following 11 months organising and training for a big fund-raising challenge: to run 20 marathons in 29 days across Italy. In February 2012, just before going away to Italy, he organised the first OUTRUN CANCER CORPORATE TREADMILL MARATHON and the success was immediate and overwhelming. The success of the two fundraising events, the support and inspiration from people met along the way and the sense of achievement for having contributed to a cause bigger than oneself, has profoundly changed Luca's life forever. He is convinced that anything is possible. However big the challenge is, one step at the time we can get there.
