Owners Construction Advocate (OCA), LLC, is owned and operated by Charlie Strickland. Charlie’s qualifications include over 40 years of experience of hands-on, in-the-field construction supervision of over homes and related infrastructure and over construction loan inspections for financial institutions. OCA specializes in the representation of Home Owners and Financial Institutions and their interests during the construction or renovation of their residence or the construction lender’s activities. Our loyalties are with our clients’ interests, not the builder’s interests. For the Home Owner, we act as their eyes and ears. OCA’s services include conducting periodic on-site inspections of critical activities including grading, footings, foundation, framing, exterior components, interior finishes, final punch lists, sitework, and quality control for compliance with plans, specifications and other construction documents. We review all Applications for Payment the builder submits to the Home Owner to protect from over disbursing funds to the builder. For Financial Institutions, we make field construction loan inspections to review builder draw requests to match progress to actual percentage of completion to protect against over disbursement to the builder. During these inspections, we also review scheduling progress and structural components. We are the HOME OWNER’S ADVOCATE In order to receive comprehensive and knowledgeable inspection services, you need an expert. Oftentimes you won’t get that in an inspector who has never built a house or building or has built very few. In this case, the home or building is subject to major items being overlooked. Would you choose a surgeon to perform a needed surgery if the surgeon’s experience level consisted of no or only a few surgeries? Probably not.
