Oxford Road Corridor is a world-class knowledge quarter, transforming lives through research, innovation, skills, and education—a place where knowledge, business, and culture thrive. Stretching south from St Peter’s Square in Manchester city centre, the Oxford Road Corridor is home to a unique concentration of knowledge, business and cultural assets. Within just one square mile are two of the UK’s leading universities, the country’s largest NHS foundation trust and a thriving cluster of digital, technology and life-science businesses, supported by designated Investment and Enterprise Zones. The Oxford Road Corridor is home to employees and generates £6.4bn in GVA. It contains 48% of Manchester’s life-sciences businesses and supports world-leading research, with more than participants recruited to studies each year. The area attracts students, including international students, with studying STEM subjects and 7,500+ studying creative disciplines. Many of Manchester’s iconic music venues, auditoriums and exhibition spaces are located within the knowledge quarter, attracting more than 4.7 million visitors every year. The area also offers a vibrant nightlife and a wide choice of cafés, restaurants and bars. The Oxford Road Corridor is overseen by a partnership comprising The University of Manchester, Manchester Metropolitan University, Manchester City Council, Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust, Bruntwood, Royal Northern College of Music and representatives from many of Manchester’s leading cultural institutions. A collaborative ethos enables the Oxford Road Corridor to capture opportunities and bring ambitious projects to fruition.
