Paardeberg Stud

Paardeberg Stud is superb modern equine facility, encompassing 200 hectares of agricultural land in the Voor Paardeberg region, situated close to Paarl in the Western Cape. It's a prime location, offering an idyllic environment dedicated to the breeding of high calibre thoroughbred racehorses. Paardeberg Stud is a partnership forged by British businessmen Steve Ajax and Charles Palmer, in conjunction with the esteemed South African breeder, Sally Bruss. The partnership has created a world class facility for the breeding of elite thoroughbred racehorses. In their pursuit of breeding excellence, the trio has secured the illustrious 2015 G1 Breeders' Cup Turf Mile champion, EXPERT EYE (GB) as the cornerstone sire to spearhead their ambitious project. A distinguished alumnus of Juddmonte Farms, Expert Eye boasts some of the most revered equine lineage in the world. Notably, he is the progeny of Acclamation and has the honour of being his first offspring to stand in the Southern Hemisphere, signalling a new chapter in thoroughbred breeding in the region. Previously a vineyard, the land that Paardeberg Stud now calls home has been transformed. Stud Manager Sally Bruss has embarked on the meticulous task of constructing a farm with a singular focus: to breed thoroughbred racehorses with the potential to excel at the upper echelons of the sport. In a remarkably brief time frame, Sally, alongside her team of committed equine professionals, has made significant progress in establishing a first-rate facility. Their unified objective is to craft the ideal conditions for nurturing exceptional thoroughbred racehorses. The first Paardeberg foals are already on the ground and we look forward to producing more future champions in the months and years ahead.
