Palestinian Land Authority

The Palestinian Land Settlement initiative is a pivotal national project, established under Law No. 7 of 2016, designed to address the complex challenges surrounding land and water resources across Palestine. The project focuses on resolving disputes related to land disposition, ownership, and usufruct rights, ensuring that these critical resources are properly managed and protected. Building on historical settlement efforts undertaken during the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan’s administration of the West Bank (1952–1967)—a period when only 32% of lands were officially registered—the LWS project continues a long-standing mission to formalize land documentation and resolve conflicts. At its core, the project is dedicated to the comprehensive registration, documentation, and settlement of land and water issues, safeguarding resources from confiscation or misuse, particularly within Palestine’s complex political, social, and economic landscape. Beyond dispute resolution, the LWS project seeks to support economic growth and human development by enhancing the formal value of land, increasing investment opportunities, and empowering farmers and women economically. It also promotes civil harmony, facilitates comprehensive planning, and strengthens community resilience. Through its multifaceted approach, the LWS project not only addresses existing land andThe project aims primarily to register, record and resolve all disputes, conflicts and issues related to the rights of ownership and property in land and water, which would preserve them from confiscation and vandalism, especially under the complicated political, economic and social challenges that encounter the Palestinian situation. The project also aims to ensure the promotion of economic and human development, raise the nominal value of the land and the investment opportunities, and ensure the achievement of civil and social peace, comprehensive planning and economic empowerment of farmers and women.
