Gourmet and garden gifts, available online and at local seasonal shops in Lake Forest Illinois. Originally conceived as a specialty vendor at the fledgling Lake Forest Farmer's Market, the name "Parterre" is a play on words: parterre is a decorative garden motif usually involving tightly clipped boxwood hedges (not uncommon in the grand estates of Lake Forest), parterre is also the french word for stall (appropriate for the vendor booth at an outdoor market), and finally par terre translates loosely as "from the earth" where the products of Parterre Kitchen all have their origin. Parterre provides items at local Holiday Boutiques and through its website as well as at the weekly seasonal open air market at the East Lake Forest Train Station.
