Our Philosophy Pashm works with rural Indian artisans in bringing their skills to the European fashion world. We combine your design needs and their craftsmanship to create sustainable fair-trade that's fashionable and high in quality. By working with us, you will empower these men and women, help them stay employed and happy while preventing the extinction of their craft. Pashm was started in May 2013 by friends Kanak Hirani Nautiyal and Sindhu Holla, who wanted to bring the intricate handmade weaves of India to fashion houses in Europe. Not only are the fabrics and indigenous designs of India known for their arresting beauty and variety, but the artisans of India are also known for their ability to create unique handwork on fabric. Pashm wants to bring India’s unsung artisans to the forefront. One by one, we plan to identify and source textiles that are unique to different Indian states. We will travel through Incredible India, meet the artisans who create exciting fabrics and designs, and will bring these wonderful treasures of India to Europe. Pashm believes that the high quality yarns that they find along the way need not be used as accessories (shawls, stoles and scarves) alone, but can also be adapted by designers and retailers as fabrics for their own creations, or if one wishes, as upholstery. By doing the two things we love best - staying fashionable and supporting sustainable fair-trade - we hope to make a difference to the world of style.
