Pedal & Power

We aim to improve access to education for learners in rural areas in Malawi by addressing two of the most persistent barriers to learning which are long distances to school and limited access to electricity at household level. Through the provision of durable bicycles and off-grid solar energy solutions, our initiative enables learners to reach schools safely and on time, while allowing them to study after dark in well-lit homes. This integrated approach directly supports Quality Education (SDG 4) by improving attendance, retention and learning outcomes, while advancing Affordable and Clean Energy (SDG 7) through community-based rural electrification. By targeting underserved rural households, Pedal and Power contributes to reducing educational inequalities (SDG 10) and strengthens inclusive rural infrastructure (SDG 9) while promoting climate-resilient, low-carbon development which is aligned with SDG 13.
