Pehchan Foundation

Pehchan India is a non governmental organisation, based in Mumbai and Varanasi, that works with the homeless community which forms one of the most marginalized communities. We use advocacy and empowerment to ensure the rights of homeless citizens while building their self-reliance at every step. At Pehchan, we assist the homeless citizens, who are city-makers, in obtaining identity documents which enhance their chances of getting employed and aid them in fighting for their rights. We also focus on non-formal education as well as issues such as the provision of shelters for the homeless, and wage related matters. Promoting homeless artists, Pehchan also supports and works to bring positive change in homeless people, through arts and creativity.
