Peperpot Nature Park

Peperpot Nature Park is a 800 hectare natural protected area. It is a former coffee & cocoa plantation with many exotic bird & plant species. Located only 10 minutes away from Paramaribo, the capital of Suriname, it offers a unique experience in nature with a major focus on birdwatching and (educational) nature walks. The “green” jogging, walking and bike trail in the park offers a tranquillity to the healthy visitor. Between the high jungle trees the former coffee and cacoa beds and trees are still visible, allowing the visitor to flashback to life & work on the plantations during colonial times. The park is still in development. The objective of this project is to conserve and sustain the biodiversity and cultural heritage of the historic plantation through development of educational activities, research, recreation and ecotourism. The execution of the Peperpot Nature Park project focuses on executing activities in order for the visitor to experience the Tales, Trails & Treasures of the area. In doing so Peperpot wishes to strengthen it's capacity of becoming a self-proficient project to realize the long term sustainability of the protected area.
