Building a Sustainable Future for Coastal Communities Pesisir Lestari focuses on Community-led Economic Empowerment for Sustainable Conservation of Blue Carbon Ecosystems. We believe that empowering communities is key to creating long-term solutions for environmental sustainability and socioeconomic resilience. Our core approach is the Community-led Natural Resources Management Model, which integrates economic empowerment, conservation and community development to address three strategic issues: climate adaptation, the rights of coastal communities, and the sustainability of blue carbon ecosystems. Through this model, we aim to balance ecological preservation with local economic growth. Currently, Pesisir Lestari is: • Collaborating with the MPA and OECM Vision Consortium to build a national framework for Other Effective Area-Based Conservation Measures (OECM) in Indonesia. • Advancing Sustainable Mangrove Stewardship through Social Forestry to ensure the protection and sustainable management of mangrove ecosystems. • Co-leading the Fishery Improvement Project (FIP) for Octopus in Sulawesi, fostering sustainable fisheries management practices to enhance livelihoods and marine biodiversity. By partnering with government agencies, NGOs, and local communities, Pesisir Lestari works to achieve a healthier, more resilient marine ecosystem that benefits both people and the planet.
